Project Development

Process

This senior project consists of 18 students performing a feasibility study on the improvement of the area surrounding I-215 between Palm Ave and University Pkwy . These improvements will take place in order to accommodate for the future growth in the area of the project boundary for the opening  year 2045 with 2020 as the base year.

The team began by deciding our study and design boundaries along with acquiring environmental information about the area; including a digital terrain map, land use map, right of way map, and many others to obtain a general idea of the area as well as creating a base for cad drawings in Microstation. The purpose and needs of the project were deliberated and finalized to be used as a guideline for why and how we would conduct the study. An Alternative Analysis was conducted along with a Preliminary Environmental Analysis Report to determine how we could move forward with the geometric design of the project. Once the top 4 alternatives were chosen, a weighted decision matrix was performed in order to determine the preferred alternative.
